Oluseun Anikulapo Kuti, better known as Seun Kuti, is a Nigerian musician, saxophonist, and political activist known for his work in Afrobeat, continuing the legacy of his legendary father, Fela Kuti. Born on January 11, 1983, in Lagos, Nigeria, Seun Kuti is one of the leading figures in the modern Afrobeat movement, blending traditional African rhythms with contemporary political themes and jazz influences. Growing up in a family steeped in musical tradition, Seun Kuti was exposed to music at an early age. His father, Fela Kuti, is the creator of Afrobeat, a genre that fuses traditional Nigerian rhythms with jazz, funk, and highlife, while also carrying a strong political message. Seun’s mother, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, was also a renowned political activist, which helped shape Seun’s views on the world and music.
