Quincy Matthew Hanley, professionally known as ScHoolboy Q, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Born on October 26, 1986, in Wiesbaden, Germany, ScHoolboy Q is a prominent member of the hip-hop collective Black Hippy, alongside fellow rappers Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, Q’s music reflects his experiences growing up in a rough environment, and his lyrics often touch on themes of street life, struggle, success, and introspection. ScHoolboy Q's breakthrough came with his 2011 album Setbacks, but it was his 2014 album Oxymoron that truly propelled him into the mainstream. The album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, featured hit singles like Man of the Year and Studio and solidified his place in the top tier of West Coast rap. Known for his gritty, laid-back flow and hard-hitting beats, ScHoolboy Q’s music blends elements of West Coast hip-hop, trap, and consciousness, creating a unique style.
