Mr Eazi, born Oluwatosin Ajibade on July 19, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He moved to Ghana at the age of 16 to pursue his education in mechanical engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. During his time at university, he began his music career, initially as a part of the university's music scene, before fully committing to his craft. Mr Eazi’s sound blends Afrobeat with dancehall and highlife, and he is known for his distinctive “Banku Music” style, which fuses these genres with smooth melodies and rhythmic beats. His breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of his mixtape About to Blow, which featured hit tracks like “Pipi Dance” and “Bankulize.” He continued to build on his success with his 2017 mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 – Accra to Lagos, which included the hit single “Leg Over.” His music has earned him several accolades, including nominations at the Soundcity MVP Awards and the MOBO Awards. In addition to his music career, Mr Eazi is also a businessman, founding the Empawa Africa initiative, which supports emerging African artists. He has worked with numerous artists and producers, including Wizkid, Tekno, and Maleek Berry, and signed a record deal with Diplo's Mad Decent label in 2018. His influence on Afrobeat and African pop music continues to grow globally, with performances at major events like Coachella.
