Melii
Melii is a rapper, singer, and songwriter known for her bilingual style that blends English and Spanish. She first gained attention in 2017 with a remix of Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow," and her subsequent releases continued to showcase her unique fusion of hip-hop, R&B, and Latin influences. Raised in Harlem by a Dominican mother and French-Cuban father, Melii was introduced to a variety of sounds from a young age but found her true calling in music after hearing J. Cole's "College Boy." She signed to Interscope Records in 2017, and her debut project, PhAses (2019), highlighted her versatility as an artist. Her music often addresses personal experiences and struggles, including her battles with mental health and the aftermath of a traumatic incident in which she accidentally shot a friend. This experience became the basis for her song "Who Changed?" Melii has also gained attention for her unapologetic approach to female rap and her willingness to be transparent about her challenges with PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Melii continues to evolve as an artist, with recent releases such as her WNTRS OUTCAST EP, showing her growth and willingness to experiment with her sound. She has also expressed plans to collaborate with artists like Lil' Kim, Coi Leray, and Jhene Aiko in the future.
