Matoma, born Tom Stræte Lagergren on May 29, 1991, in Norway, is a prominent DJ and producer known for his contributions to tropical house music. He gained widespread recognition in 2015 with his remix of The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Old Thing Back," a collaboration featuring Ja Rule and Ralph Tresvant. This remix was certified RIAA Gold and helped launch his career in the electronic music scene. Before his rise to fame, Matoma developed his musical skills by learning classical piano and later producing music on a laptop. He attended the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he earned a degree in music technology. His career took off when his SoundCloud remixes started attracting attention, and he soon gained a reputation for his innovative sounds and catchy productions. Matoma's debut album *One in a Million* (2018) was a major success, featuring hit singles like "False Alarm" and "Lonely." His music, often marked by a fusion of electronic, pop, and tropical vibes, has garnered over a billion streams globally. Beyond his solo work, Matoma has collaborated with artists like Jennifer Lopez, Jason Derulo, Dua Lipa, and The Vamps, and has remixed tracks for major acts including Coldplay and One Direction.
