Keith Sweat

Keith Sweat, born Keith Douglas Sweat on July 22, 1961, in Harlem, New York City, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer. Recognized as a pioneer of the New Jack Swing genre in the late 1980s, Sweat gained fame with his debut album Make It Last Forever (1987), which sold over three million copies and featured hits like "I Want Her" and the title track. He followed this success with albums such as I’ll Give All My Love to You (1990) and Keith Sweat (1996), cementing his position in the R&B music scene. Sweat began his career as the lead singer of the Harlem-based band Jamilah before pursuing a solo career in the mid-1980s. His distinctive blend of soulful ballads and upbeat tracks earned him multiple American Music Awards and a Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. He also collaborated with Gerald Levert and Johnny Gill in the supergroup LSG, releasing two successful albums. In addition to music, Sweat hosts a nationally syndicated radio show, The Sweat Hotel. Sweat graduated from City College of New York with a degree in communications and briefly worked on Wall Street before transitioning to music full-time. He was married to reality TV star Lisa Wu Hartwell from 1992 to 2002, with whom he has two sons. He has also released over a dozen albums, continuing to tour and influence R&B music globally.
