Darkua, whose full name is Dorcas Darkua Ankamah, is a Ghanaian artist known for her soulful music that blends traditional Ghanaian sounds with contemporary R&B influences. Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, she was exposed to a variety of music from a young age, particularly Ghanaian Highlife, Reggae, and the works of iconic figures like E.T. Mensah and Amakye Dede. Her musical career began in 2017 with the release of her debut single, "Gyae Me," which immediately earned her recognition for its emotive vocals and storytelling. Since then, Darkua has continued to evolve as an artist, with notable releases like "Mama" in 2020, which paid tribute to motherhood. Darkua’s distinctive sound, blending heartfelt emotions with empowering themes, has garnered her a growing fanbase. She was selected for Apple Music’s "Up Next" program, which highlighted her as an emerging talent in the African music scene.
